The Homeless Are Not Invisible
That human being sitting on the sidewalk with a cup begging for change,
Gets walked right by from hundreds of strangers each day with no shame,
You can try brushing your neighbor off who desperately needs help,
Yet you can’t erase the existence of that soul within a shell,
Beyond what you see with your nose down towards the lowly,
With your opinions and judgements that aren’t even holy,
Regardless of the past of those who slipped and crashed,
We must have compassion and empathy so they can get back on track,
When you see that man and woman with no place to go,
Maybe out in the cold praying for a home,
Remember they are not invisible and shouldn’t be brushed off,
That person has value that was paid at a cost.
